ChatGPT Ads management · India
ChatGPT Ads went live in India on 27 August 2026. I set up and run small, tracked tests: the right conversation topics, a clear sponsored listing, a landing page that converts, and conversions measured with OpenAI’s pixel.
How ChatGPT Ads work
Sponsored listings appear beneath ChatGPT’s answer when a relevant product or service is available, clearly labelled and kept separate from the answer itself. They’re shown to logged-in adults on the Free and Go plans; paid subscribers and under-18s don’t see them, and ads don’t run near sensitive topics such as health, mental health and politics (Inc42, 27 August 2026).
Targeting is contextual: the ad matches what the conversation is about, not a keyword list or a personal profile, and advertisers get only aggregate numbers, never conversations. India has more than 100 million weekly ChatGPT users, and very few local businesses advertise there yet. Because self-serve buying only opened on 4 September 2026, nobody, me included, has long-term ChatGPT Ads results to show yet, so I run it as a small, tracked test. It’s one channel within my PPC services in Delhi.

Is it right for you?
It’s a new channel, so it suits some businesses far better than others right now.
Your customers ask questions and compare options before they enquire.
Search clicks in your category cost a lot and you want another channel.
You’re comfortable spending a modest amount to learn early.
Forms, calls or sales can be tracked from a landing page.
Being early in a new channel could put you ahead of rivals.
Both work, as long as the offer suits a conversation-led search.
Who it suits
Good fits are businesses whose buyers ask detailed questions before choosing. Not available near health, mental health or politics topics.
Courses, exam prep and study-abroad, where parents and students compare options in detail.
Software, consulting and outsourcing, where buyers research before booking a call.
Trip planning conversations that end in a booking.
Product comparisons and gift ideas with a clear price and offer.
Interiors, renovation and repairs, where people ask what to look for.
Accounting, tax filing and company registration services, within policy.

Yes. Ads went live for Indian users on 27 August 2026, and self-serve buying through Ads Manager opened on 4 September 2026.
The minimum is ₹725 a day in ad spend, paid to OpenAI. Early cost figures shared by agencies come from very few advertisers, so treat any benchmark with caution; rates are expected to rise as more advertisers join. Management with me is ₹9,999 a month while spend is up to ₹65,000.
Logged-in adults on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education users don’t see ads, and neither do accounts identified as under 18.
OpenAI says ads don’t influence ChatGPT’s responses. Sponsored listings are labelled and shown separately below the answer.
No. Ads don’t run near sensitive topics such as health, mental health and politics, so clinics and some other categories can’t use them yet.
No. Ads are paid placements below the answer. Being named inside the answer itself is earned through AI search optimisation (GEO).
I plan and run your campaigns and review them every week. A designer on my team produces the ad creatives, and a developer helps with tracking when it’s needed.
